Crosstown (Video) Traffic with AlphaBird

October 22, 2012

If you’re a brand marketer and want to drive traffic to your video content on YouTube and Facebook then you should definitely check out AlphaBird.

Alphabird, according to CrunchBase, is a “vertically integrated audience development company that guarantees targeted, engaged audiences for online video on a performance basis. Alphabird was an early pioneer in the distribution of Click-To-Play video content and has delivered tens of millions of engaged viewers for major studios, agencies and Fortune 1000 brands.”

The company was initially focused on editorial syndication/distribution; however, following their acquisition in 2011 of PlaceVine, a YouTube publisher network of sorts for crowd sourcing and creating and sharing video with their friends, they began focusing on re-branding to align their services with social media.

Another reason for the purchase was it’s acquisition of PlaceVine was for its Brand Integration Platform, a platform used to connect content creators and brand advertisers. This platform may have evolved into what Chase Norlin refers to as a “social media buying platform,” which essentially takes paid search, and a variety of other new CPC sources, and drives targeted segments to watch videos on YouTube, Facebook or targeted publisher sites.

About a year later AlphaBird then acquired MediaSocial for their focus on driving audience in YouTube to extend the offering.

In 2012 AlphaBird then launched a new original content development unit with international TV production company Endemol (best know in the U.S. for “Big Brother” and Celebreality”). The newly created group, located in Beverly Hills, will be responsible for developing and producing all branded entertainment projects for the network. The team will be led by Russel Naftal, Johnny McMahon, and Kelli Usher.

And finally, in August the company announced it’s partnership with Australia’s Volt Media in order to extend its reach in Asia-Pacfic markets.

Similar to AlphaBird, Volt’s video offering enable brands to connect with audiences through its premium video network using traditional in-stream advertising as well as guaranteeing engaged audiences for longer-form video content deliver higher earned media “outcomes.”
